All our chairs, stools and sofas are made in Portugal, namely Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Barcelos and Leiria. In Portugal, there is an abundance of skills and know-how. There is also a collective heritage that stays genuine. This is why we have passion for our country and a conviction: our location is special and our people make the difference.
Portuguese heritage! We are just 20 kms from the Maritime Coast, 30 kms from the mountains, 40 kms from the airport. Besides this, 30 kms from us is one of the first wine-producing regions of the world – Douro Valley. And also a landscape and heritage that gives us energy and creativity, making us feel good. This is why our seating products reflect what surrounds us.

Cork is a material that is 100% natural, recyclable, reusable and renewable. This is why it is regarded as a raw material of excellence with favorable consequences for natural resources and for Planet Earth. The material is dust and stain-repellent, anti-bacterial, washable and waterproof – which makes it wonderful for our chairs and stools.
Yes! The cork is 100% sustainable and eco-friendly!
Cork is the outer bark of the cork oak tree, quercus suber, which grows mainly in the Mediterranean region. It is part of the periderm (skin) system that covers the stem/trunk of the tree.

Cork is harvested every nine years on a sustainable basis, without any trees being cut in the process. The bark is stripped off the tree in sections without hurting the trunk by highly skilled professionals, always between May and August. A cork oak tree can live, on average, 200 years, and can be harvested up to 20 times during its life cycle, making cork a truly inexhaustible natural resource.
The “montados” (cork oak forests) are vital for the maintenance and preservation of the flora and fauna. They are the basis for one of the 35 most important biodiversity conservation global ecosystems. Over two hundred animal species and 135 plant species find here the ideal conditions for survival. The “montados” also protect against erosion and consequent desertification. They are an anti-fire barrier, due to the weak combustion of cork, and play a significant role in regulating the hydrological cycle. They also provide a significant contribution with regard to the air we breathe because they fix carbon dioxide. It is estimated that every year the cork forests retain up to 14 million tons of CO2, a precious help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the main cause of climate change. Equally surprising is the fact that a harvested cork oak tree, during the natural regeneration process, retains, on average, five times more CO2. The ability to retain carbon dioxide also extends to cork manufactured products, which continue to fulfill this function of CO2 fixation.
Our seats of timber are made of American white oak, American black walnut, European ash from sustainable farms.
We use only the highest grade timber available, FAS First and Seconds, with the fewest knots and most consistent grain patterns. And this timber is only available from sustainable farms, as the regular monitoring, pruning, replanting, and general care of the trees on managed forests is what creates planks of this quality.

Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified securing clean and safe materials, produced under social and environmentally sound conditions. Besides this, our upholstery fabrics are chosen for their luxurious tactility, outstanding performance, and durability.
Martindale is a unit for quantifying the abrasion resistance of textiles, especially when used for upholstery. The Martindale rub test simulates natural wear of a seat cover, in which the textile sample is rubbed against a standard abrasive surface with a specified force. The higher the value, the more resistant the material is to abrasion. All our fabrics are tested to the highest standards, with more than 20.000 Martindale.
Martindale, pilling and light fastness inform you about a fabric’s durability. We use them to make it easy for you to see which is the right kind of furniture upholstery for you and your needs.
Look for Martindale
Besides color, design and style, there are a few more practical considerations you should be aware of. The first thing to note is Martindale which describes the durability of the fabric. A high Martindale rating means that the fabric has undergone abrasion testing and has endured a certain number of rubs to warrant its rating. All our fabrics are tested to the highest standards, with more than 20.000 Martindale.
Consider the lightfastness
If the perfect spot for your sofa has to be close to the window, you should choose a fabric with a lightfastness around 4-8. Lightfastness, or color fastness to light, describes the fabric’s resistance to sunlight and tells you how fast it tends to fade.
A note on pilling
Pilling describes the formation of small loose strands or balls of fibers on the surface of the fabric. Pilling can occur on upholstery fabric regardless of material, and has no bearing on fabric quality, functionality or durability. Pilling is easily removed and isn’t considered a fabric defect or fault, it’s simply loose fibers that have a natural tendency to move to the surface of a piece of fabric, where they are subject to friction. Pilling will reduce once the excess fibers are removed, but to avoid excess lint choose a pilling value above 4.
Keep your new chairs away from direct sunlight. The discoloration will happen over time if left in the sun. And most important, give them all your love.
We recommend you vacuum your upholstered product every week, at low power and with the soft mouthpiece, to prevent the filling from shifting and the fibers being pulled out during vacuuming.
We recommend that you start by impregnating your sofa with the right care product – a foam cleaner – which effectively removes stains on all fabrics. If the foam cleaner doesn’t help, then visit us in store with pictures of the stain, information about the fabric and the character of the stain, and we’ll do our best to help you.
Your upholstered product will change its shape and appearance over time, just like everything and everyone, and that’s why it needs love and care to ensure it lasts for many years. Here are some tips:
– do not always sit in the same place, so that your sofa will last longer and the upholstery on the cushions will be more even;
– a foam product needs to be beaten to make the cushions return to their natural shape despite the use;
– in order to avoid too many wrinkles with the use, the fabric should be ”ironed” lightly with the hand, so that any excess material can be redistributed across the cushion.;
– we recommend you vacuum your upholstered product every week, at low power and with the soft mouthpiece, to prevent the filling from shifting and the fibers being pulled out during vacuuming.
